Get HMCosrs Running in 5 Minutes
I use Hmcosrs every day. It’s a custom OSRS client. Not Jagex’s official one (but) it adds real tools like better loot tracking, custom overlays, and keyboard shortcuts that save time.
You want the real thing. Not some sketchy mirror site. Go to Hmcosrs directly.
Or just Google HMCosrs client download and click the first result with “vrstgameplay.com” in the URL. (Yeah, I check the domain too.)
Click the big green download button. Pick your OS: Windows (.exe), Mac (.dmg), or Linux (.AppImage). Don’t guess.
Look at your system settings if you’re unsure.
Run the file. Click Next. Accept the defaults.
Done. No registry tweaks. No config files to edit.
It installs like any other app.
It runs on old laptops. My 2013 MacBook still handles it fine. If it won’t start, check your Java version.
HMCosrs needs Java 17 or newer. That’s the only real requirement.
Third-party clients scare people. Rightfully so. But Hmcosrs is open-source and hosted on a known site.
Never download from Discord links or random forums. You wouldn’t hand your bank login to a stranger. Don’t hand your OSRS account to a fake installer.

First Time Opening HMCosrs
I opened HMCosrs for the first time and got stuck right away.
You will too (unless) you know this one thing.
You must have an OSRS account before launching HMCosrs. No, the client won’t let you sign up inside it. Go to the official RuneScape website first.
Make your account there. (Yes, even if you think you already have one (double-check.))
Then open HMCosrs. Log in with those exact same credentials. If it fails, you skipped the website step.
(I did. Twice.)
Graphics settings? Lower them. Not because your PC is weak (but) because higher settings hide loot on the ground.
Sound? Turn it up or off. Your call.
Don’t waste time tweaking display scaling yet.
Plugins are where HMCosrs gets useful. They’re small tools that sit on top of the game. No coding.
No setup beyond clicking “let.”
Try XP tracker. Loot tracker. Bank tagger.
All built-in. All safe. All turned off by default.
Why would you play without knowing how much XP you just earned?

Smelt it into bars. Make a bronze dagger. That’s your first crafted item.
You hold it. You use it.
The Financial Advisor explains banks. Brother Brace teaches prayer. You click an altar.
You feel the interface click into place. (That’s the sound of understanding.)
Then the Magic Instructor. Cast a spell. Light a fire.
Feel the mana bar drop. It’s simple. It’s enough.

I used Tile Markers the first time I hit Tutorial Island.
Marked the tutor, the bank chest, the furnace. No more backtracking.
NPC Indicators show quest givers in red. You see them before you even talk to them. (Yes, the tutor counts.)
XP Tracker runs from minute one. Watch your Attack XP tick up while swinging that wooden sword. It’s not flashy.
But it tells you exactly how much longer until level 2.
